Finally Gingerbread for Spice Mi 410.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread released by Magnum HD, a Spice MI 410 variant
Now you can upgrade your mi 410 with 2.3 gingerbread MAGNUM HD rom, but i am not sure whether warranty will be voided or retained. If you are more into Android and would like to try out this rom here are the steps
Warning: This is only for developers or pro's who know what are they doing. I am in no way responsible if your phone gets bricked or warranty gets void. This post is for informational purpose.

  1. Download the software update:
  1. Extract the ZIP file. Backup your data.
  2. Copy the file FB0-318B-0-5019-A01.nb0 to your SD card. Rename the file to firmware.nb0. Make sure it is placed in the root folder (not saved in a folder)
Insert the SD card to your device.
  3. To enter bootloader mode, press and hold volume up + down + power buttons until you see the image of the Android
    logo.
  4. Press ‘Home’key to show the update utility. Use the volume buttons to select the option “Download nb0 from SD card”.
  5. Press ‘back arrow’ to confirm.

Upgrade will start. You can see the progress of the update while you wait. Your Spice 410 is now updated to its latest software.

Spice Mi 410 Review

Hi Guys,
Spice has finally launched its another android phone, Spice MI 410. I was eagerly waiting for this mobile to hit the market from months. The expected price of this phone was around 15k - 16k but surprisingly Spice launched it at a price of rs 13,999/-. As this is my first attempt please leave your feedback. So coming back to review. If you want to buy this phone, currently only one website offers this in India, its Saholic, A Spice Group.

Box Content:
One Unit
Ac Adapter
Micro usb Cable
Battery
Headset (Good Quality)
Leather pouch.

Looks and Built quality: When holding this phone you get the HTC feel. Back of the body has metal cover, looks are awesome. Built quality is pretty nice. This phone comes with pre loaded scratch guard because of this touch response is very laggy at times. Best option is to remove that and replace it with another good quality scratch guard. It's size and dimension is almost same as HTC HD7 so anyone out there looking for leather case you can try that.

User Interface: Spice Mi 410 has this stock Android interface. Nothing special, but you can customize it as you need from android market. I kinda like the stock interface. It comes with stock froyo version 2.2.2. After switching on the phone, loading was pretty fast thanks to snapdragon processor.

Performance: The phone at this price beat the phones in range of 20-35k segment. I got the Quadrant score of 1600, but i was expecting more cause i have seen benchmark score of welcomm a99 (which is same as MI 410 but with different name) , it was above 2000. May be some custom rom will fix this issue, but still ahead of nexus in benchmark. After running Neocore test this phone's fps was 56.1. 3D Gaming experience was very good, there was no single lag. But Brightness is not up to the mark. Below pic shows that this phone is capable of 2033 benchmark. I got this pic while researching. source: http://androidforums.com/huawei-ideos-x6-u9000/254641-huawei-ideos-x6-2.html

Messaging and Telephony: Messaging is a lot easier thanks to 4.1 inch display of this phone. It comes with Touchpal keyboard which is nice, but swype is better. Call clarity so far is very good. There has not been a single issue of call drop. All sensors are working fine.

HD Video: As this phone is capable of HD recording and playback, i tried playing video of 1080p, but it was lagging very much. When I tried to play video of 720p it was very smooth no problem at all and clarity was very good. It has got MicroHDMi slot next to Microusb. Thus you can connect it to your HDTV and enjoy Games And Movies. It comes with an video editing app, so now you can capture video and edit it right from your Cell phone.

Video Calling: Though it has got front cam, you cannot make video call. Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 will solve this problem, so lets hope we will get custom rom version 2.3.4 in some months for mi 410. Why I said custom rom is for the reason Spice has told us that they will not release Gingerbread 2.3.4. Now that's disappointing.

Sound: Sound quality is nice. Headset gives very clear output. It has got two speakers at the side. For noise cancellation there is a second mic in the back.

Camera: MI 410 has 5 mp camera in the back and vga camera in the front. Quality of the pics is you can say satisfactory not outstanding. It has got autofocus. Will post the pics taken from my 410 in the next post. You be the Judge of pic quality as I am not that into clicking pics from my cell phone.

Connectivity: Had no problem with wifi, not a single disconnection. It has got bluetooth v3 so the transfer speed is quite increased.

Battery Life: Battery backup is good. As it is an android phone you cannot expect it to last for 2-3 days. With no Wifi, 3G or gaming Battery lasts for nearly 1 and half day. With Wifi and 3G you will get battery backup of 24 hrs. (light usage)

Overall this phone is value for money.
